Bio:
Cortez “Tez” McClain, 21 yrs old, Clark-Atlanta student and future graduate. The
last year has been a steady and constant grind, which is needed in order to be successful
in the music industry. After Winning the ShoNuff talent showcase at CAU in February
2007 out of 11 contestants, which consisted of R&B and gospel performer, as
the only hip hop act. The showcased was judged by Smooth (A&R for ShoNuff),
President Thomas Forbes (Video Director), and other staff member of ShoNuff records.
Tez McClain won studio time and a track from Jazzy Pha. After winnings another showcase
at Georgia State University in March 2007, Tez McClain got elected to perform at
the Annual Fashion show sponsored by HOT 107.9 and was hosted by radio personality
“J-Nicks”.
Throughout the months of April through June 2007 Tez McClain won several showcase
throughout the city of Atlanta at such venues: Café 290, Throwbacks, Club Crucial
(TI’s club), and the historical Royal Peacock ( where the ground breaking Young
Joc was discovered). In July 2007 Tez McClain had a meeting wit So So Def A&R
and Industry Veteran Chico, which lead to recording with up and coming producer
maestro (whom has worked with Lil Wayne, Lil Boosie, Dem Franchise Boys and Big
Gipp). The aftermath resulted in two hot records, Get Yours and Turn It Up. August
2007 was the beginning of a relationship with Music Mogul and Co-Founder of DTP
Chaka Zulu. After hearing Tez McClain music Chaka put him in the studio with producer
LT-Moe ( whom has worked wit artist such as Bobby V, Ludacris, and Chingy) and engineer/producer
Paul Sheeny ( who was currently working on Kanye West last LP Graduation).
After Banging out 10 new songs in five days wit 4 hour studio block the new single
was ready. Tez McClain new single “I’m Fly” which was produced by LT-Moe was gaining
locate buzz throughout the city of Atlanta. From the months of September and October
the new single was getting spins in such clubs like Magic City, Body Tap, The House
Nightclub, 300 Bowling Alley, Club Crucial, and several college events. Tez McClain
was getting more clubs spins then a lot of major acts in Atlanta. The single “I’m
Fly” also garnered regional attention after 10,000 mixtapes that featured the single
was distributed throughout GA, TN, and MS. Not long after several performances in
GA and TN, Tez McClain gets featured internationally on MTV 2 with his Sucker Freestyle
that has been viewed 21,743 via myspace and youtube.
Tez McClain later shot the independent video for “I’m Fly” with a cameo from Def
Jam/ CTE artist Blood Raw. Tez McClain is also featured on the highly anticipated
December
release of the Raw Report DVD with Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane as the headline
artist. Tez McClain is releasing the mixtape during the first quarter that will
be hosted by Legendary “DJ Red Alert”.
Tez McClain the artist and songwriter will become a BRAND name. He has worked with
multi-platinum producer Focus, LT-Moe, Maestro, CTE producer Arnaz “The Nasty One”,
and many up and coming producers. Has won several showcases, been featured internationally
on MTV, and co-directed his independent video. In a years time Tez McClain has gain
recognition and support from his peers, DJs, and Major Industry Figures with NO
BUDGET nor MAJOR SPONSORSHIPS!!!!!!!!!
