Bio:
Here Comes the King….
King Kun that is
King Kun is a modern renaissance man. Born Dejuan Davis to a single mother, Kun grew up in one of Atlanta’s most notorious neighborhoods called “The Bluff.” The Bluff was well known for its heroin, prostitution and crime with many of the young men either ending up dead or incarcerated by the time they reached their adolescent years. But not King Kun.
Born into a musical family, Kun’s love affair with music began as a young child. Following the musical footsteps of his uncles, one an aspiring pianist and the other on guitar, along with his mother’s boyfriend, a saxophonist, Kun bought his first drum machine and began producing music for a group he formed called The HAVEKNOTZ. The group consisted of friends and family members who performed in local MC battles around town.
Kun’s musical talents landed him with a full music scholarship to Morris Brown University but after a brief stint in school, Kun decided to leave university life behind and enter into the music industry full time. Known as a triple threat in the industry as a producer/writer/artist, Kun is able to hear and create music that has a unique sound. In the role as a producer, Kun is able to hear music that a normal artist would not be able to hear. His ability to identify with the different movements in the tracks, emotions, time changes, and climaxes comes in handy as a writer and artist because it causes him to write to the emotion of the track instead of just dropping a verse on the beat.
Today, King Kun is recognized as one of Atlanta’s hottest super producers and a true lyricist. All subjects pay attention, Kun will be the name heard round the world as his new single ‘She Like It” invades the radio airwaves. When asked what quote inspires him the most, Kun quoted James Dean and said, “Dream as if you’ll live forever, Live as if you’ll die today.”
